Forest Management Plan Template
This template pulls together all of the necessary information to help you and your forester write your forest management plan. We hope this template makes your plan better and easier to write. The template is generic so delete items that are not applicable to your property. Likewise, add things important to you that are missing in the template. And as forest circumstances or your objectives change, you will want to note any updates to your plan.
This Plan Template meets the current 2021-2026 American Tree Farm Systems standards for forest sustainability. See AFF Standards for details. When ATFS standards are updated, about every 5 years, you may add an addendum to document your compliance with new standards. A new plan and Tree Farm reinspection will be needed every 10 years. It will be your responsibility to remain in compliance to ensure your forest property continues to be a Certified Tree Farm.
To meet IRS requirements, you are encouraged to retain documents related to management activities. Tables behind the template are provided to record your activities. This includes keeping details of herbicide and other pesticide applications. Good records will be your evidence of a profit motive, material participation in a business, tax deductions, basis in timber, etc. (see Management Objectives).
The MS Landscape Management Plan Committee provided this Forest Management Template. Any comments and suggestions for improvement may be submitted to the Mississippi Forestry Association at 601-354-4036 or info@msforestry.net. The last update was 5/31/2024.
